Basic Space (Mount Kimbie Remix) - The xx We're all completely over The xx's first album, but this is worth the throwback. Mount Kimbie drags in white smoke, acid bubbles, and deliciously pervasive champagne foam to a seemingly-irreversibly stale track-- let's just call it aural defibrillation.
wen uuu - Shlohmo Subtle in all the best ways, and soothing after all your best lays. Experimental never seemed so comforting. Plus- word has it, Nicolas Jaar is remixing this.
The Ballad (Koreless Remix) - New Look Reminiscent of Strange and Unproductive Thinking, isn't it? Canadian synth pop remixed by a Glaswegian producer creates an intimate mood wherein you, your thoughts, your tryptophan binges, your DMT secretions, and all of Saturn's moon can revel in your much-earned comatose glory.
And I Say ft. Scout LaRue and Will Epstein - Nicolas Jaar Weirdos like me will get overly affected by sexy, yet increasingly eerie vocals and minimalist sounds. Much like Chinese water torture, these vocals will drive you insane; they'll have you waiting for the imminent somethings that seem to never come, whether they be drops of water or unfulfilled lyrics: "And I say..." WHAT!? And you say what, lady!? She never does quite utter it. Can't wait to see Jaar at Coachella. (The track is also called "With Just One Glance.")
Forget (Shlohmo Remix) - Lianne La Havas Poetically negligible moody hooks intercalate the rising UK singer's original, finding their way between the nooks of the crystal lattice that is your central nervous system's synaptic layout. No guitar chords here, just hazy vocals and synths.
Stop Using Logic - Thrupence Sounds like a giant feather weaving between an endless array of chimes. This gem by a Melbourne, Australia-born-and-bred artist makes you forget your left brain and veers you toward the supernatural, the visceral-- the warmth of nothingness. Oh, if you're currently stoned (as you should be), check out the video.
Lost in Tokyo - Koreless Punctuating a strange and tastefully unadorned crescendo with the beckoning chants of succubi, this potential lullaby leaves much to the imagination. If you fall asleep, you're doing it right.
Cut And Paste (Extended Mix) - Trumpdisco, Airwolf When you feel down, you go do the club with your friends. When your at the club you dance to PARTY music. When you get home with your partner for the night you put on some FUCK music. and then, BAAAAAAM.
St. John's Dance - The Plot When you mix Hip Hop and Electro you clearly get... SUCCESS! These rappers have made a hiphopelectrofuckinghypeupanthem. OMG!!!!!
Some seriously mindblowing shtuff right here. Well, what else would you expect from Cazzette by now? Complete with a bizarrely creative mix title (standard form, CZT. We applaud you your eccentricity). Hey, feel free to get as weird as you want while listening; SFP™ is fully on board with out there shiieett. Get outta your minds, my little space cadets.
Nicky and Fedde’s new years gift to you. Dig it and get down, cause you already know this is only the beginning of another outstanding year for electronic dance music. Plus I mean, it’s catchy as shit.
The crew here at SFP™ has been harboring a slightly mad obsession for Internet Friends ever since Knife Party first released it. This deliciously dirty infatuation has only been growing in the last couple months (if ya don’t know, now ya know.) Hearing it combined into a filthy mashup with Tonic’s Bitch Please, I wouldn’t be surprised if my brain exploded with happiness. In the best way possible, of course. Believe me when I say, this song takes all the utter insanity of the original and multiplies it by 10. Don’t believe me? Just press play, bitches.
Mad love for Laidback. Each and every remix goes harder than the next; this guy’s sound is almost too absurd to put into words. Of course, the original’s just as good; you can download it here
This just takes me to my fucking happy place. In the House has been one of my favorites since, well, since I was a newbie lil haus head (awww! How cute *__*) Now check it: R3hab’s taken it to a whole other dimension. Surrender your mind and lose yourself in these vibes. You know you love it.
3 words: Muthaf@!kin MOOMBAH baby. Yeah, Skrill drops it hard in this one. Explosive bass and a drop that goes and goes turn this into the best moombahton I’ve heard in 2012, hands down. For all my little dub lovers who just wanna take it to straight up next level shit: this is the fucking jam for you.
Had to throw this in here just cause I’m seeing Bassjackers in the city on Saturday. Can I get a fuck yeah!? Not like I’m not already going to be screaming it all night. Bout to be another fucking epic weekend in SF, that’s for damn sure.
I’m out for now! Peace, love, unity and all that shit.
A Real Hero (Follow Me Remix) - College feat Electric Youth So mellifluously refixed that it still reminds you of Drive-- of the sweet intertextuality between core-gore and honey soundscapes -- but sounds like a new track entirely. 'Cus it is. Follow Me is the real hero here.
In Your Nature (David Lynch Remix) - Zola Jesus Freaks will know this starts off like a hybrid of "So Glad" and "Noah's Ark" 18 seconds in, but that's just Crazy Clown- talk. The plus is that these vocals are debatably as sexy as those of Karen O(-face) in "Pinky's Dream."
Drugged Out Quest - Ssaliva Hazy alt. trip-hop from Belgium, to me, to you. Perfect for lethargic inertness. Cloudy with a chance of roofie, if you know what I mean. IT WILL PUT YOU IN A TRANCE.
Nilof - Une Heure Imagine that you are at a club and the dj start to play this. I don't know about you but I would go CRAZY like Dada Life on stage! And they are really up for it!!!
DEVolution - Big Love (Nik Rowan Remix) A Club Banging Dubstep WakaWaka mixed with some sexy female vocals. It sounds like a Superman partying on Ecstasy and Redbull Vodka. Can it get any better?
Then I thought to myself, THE SWEDISH MUSIC ISN'T ENOUGH, YOU NEED MORE!!!
Trumpdisco - Do You Want More Of What You Came For? This is the most banging song that I have heard in a looong time. IT'S FUCKING CRAZY!!! I was at one of Trumpdiscos shows a couple of weeks ago and it is hard to describe the feeling you get by the heavyness of their music. I won't say anything, just watch!
DAL - Glissen (FTampa Remix) FTampa has become one of my favorite producers. Most of his tracks are heavy as fuck and have unreal drops. Log on to his SoundCloud and you will know what I mean.
Congorock - Ivory A cuple of months ago I was not a fan of Congorock. I did not even know who he was until he preformed at a event near my home. And now, I fucking adore his music. If he has a show in a town near you, I order you to go see it!
DJ Model Style - Transformers If weed is illegal, so should this. Because every time i hear this i feel high, hyped and horny as a muttafuckaa!!
Afrojack - Show Me Your Rage Last summer I listened to Lunar at least 500 times. No joke, it wouldn't surprise me if that is why my hearing sucks these days. Although, this track will be played at least as much.
Diplo & Oliver Twizt - Go (PeaceTreaty Remix) What is there to say? Good? Great? Or maybe FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!! I would definitely go with option number three because the guys in PeaceTreaty just gave me a new study method. Party music + books = fun studying!!! (though, on second thought, FUCK STUDYING!; Lets patyyyyy instead)!!!
And then i finally thought to myself, WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE KNIFE PARTYS EP NO MODERN TALKING!!!! Don't worry... I'll hook it up.
Sleep Tonight (Junior Boys Remix) - Stars Dreamy soundscapes reminiscent of cheesy 80s soundtracks, anachronistic, unfulfilled fantasies of falling asleep in his arms at a drive-in movie, and garish scrunchies. It looks stupid, but it sounds good.
Genesis - Grimes Grimes? Electro pop from Montreal. Pitchfork named it best new track January 4th, plus the woman signed to the same label as the Cocteau Twins (lol). Catch Grimes in Bardot Miami 03/08 or at Mercury Lounge and Glasslands (Brooklyn) 03/23-4.
Over My Dead Body (Star Slinger Remix) - Drake Delicious if you like Drake, delicious if you don't. You try to serenade someone with this, but then you both end up falling asleep together. How I'm feelin' doesn't matter.
Before I Move Off (Star Slinger Refix) - Mount Kimbie A soothing yet incohesive remix of a London-born electronic duo by Manchester's best hip hop producer right now, the Slingah. If you haven't heard Mount Kimbie, listen to Carbonated before you kill yourself. Maybe I just like M.K. because they like to quote Harmony Korine?
You can't download this new gem for free, and I won't let you. can i get a lynch faaaan
Even though Hip Hop, Rock and all that is fucking awsome, it is the electronic music that really gets me hard! There is no better feeling than to hear your new favorite club banger on a night out. Dubstep, Electro House, Vocal House, Fith, Drum & Bass and so much more is what you can expect from me cuZ im the new writer, Zilas! All the way from Sweden.
SOVA.KNULLA.FESTA
We Like Weekend - Stereo Hazard!, Mikky Cat When you hear this you will forget about kissing, you will forget about foreplay, and if you are unlucky you will forget about the condom.
Forever (Drkampa Remix) - Sundbeats inc How hot is her voice? I mean, seriously? This track makes me wanna look through my phonebook and call that girl from last weekend.
He's A Dream (Jerma Bootleg Mix) - Flashdance 2010 When it comes to progressive music, this is my favorite right now! Even though it isn't my favorite genre, this shit gets me just a little bit horny. How about you?
Rebecca & Fiona - Jane Doe As amadZ was saying in an earlier post, Rebecca & Fiona's vocals are sexy as FUCK! Since I am from their native land of Sweden, I have seen them live and let me tell you this: IT WAS INSANEEE!!!!!
Holy Ghost - Sharam Jey, Tom Breu Indie Dance, Disco, Hip Hop? Call it what you want to call it, but the fact remains that it is dope and on the most played list on my iPod. Just perfect for slow fucking, or foreplay, or both!!!
The Mistress (Dan Castro Remix) - Ben DJ & T.T ORCHESTRA If you walk around Stockholm during a rainy day and get surprised by this dude with his headphones pushed to far up his ears with a big fucking smile on his face. Don't be. It is just me listening to this on my way to work.
And now, for our end of the year wrap up, the best quality, the crème de la crème, cream of the crop and it don't stop. Our favorite songs from the brain-reverberating year that was 2011, running the genre gamut from chillwave to dubstep to electr-oh-no, to a digitalism so soulful and trance-inducing that it transcends classification-- carefully curated by our crew:
Paradis Circus - Massive Attack vs BurialSuper mega next level dismal UK shit laced with sexy female vocals to lull you into the most wet dreams. Think of her as an aural succubus you needn't work hard to imagine (the soundscape does it for you).
Araab Muzik - Streetz Tonight 2011 A delicious edition of 4 AM by Kaskade, by Araab Muzik. It's was the greatest thing to hit my New Year's party. Ten times sexier, and twice rejuvenated.
Garden (Joe Goddard Remix) - Totally Enormous Extinct DinosaursYes, this is Joe Goddard of Hot Chip, but you didn't even know his name. It's the same vocals you so miss from ye olde UK electronic-indie band with some sweet female vocals wrapped up all in it. Plus the now-famous TEED, though you didn't know who he was when I first posted this.
Have A Cigar (Wick-it Remix) - Pink Floyd A remix by Wick-it The Instigator The same dude who brought us the dubstep remix of Charlie Sheen's 'Tiger Blood' interview. If you love Pink Floyd (which you do), this will take you back. And I mean all the way back.
Ruckus The Jam - Zeds Dead A sexy bassline drums the build-up only to be bombed with vocals and the signature Zeds Dead synths and riffs. You would know it was them anywhere, anytime.
Wildfire - SBTRKT The staccato love song of the summer. Get down to this. It's sweet and sounds even better if you add some bed springs in the mix. Instant classic!
Blue Jeans - Lana Del Rey What I initially said about this: "The artist? She's the singer-songwriter alter-ego of Lizzy Grant. The genre? Hollywood pop & sad core. The verdict? I can dig." AND NOW LOOK.
Video Games (BALAM ACAB Remix) - Lana Del Rey I fucking love Balam Acab more than life itself, as I do Lana Del Rey. So for the two to coexist on one aural plane? Surreal. You're very welcome.
Lofticries - Purity Ring Daring. Synths everywhere, and it's all constantly moving toward a crescendo. Mix that in with the ethereal vocals (sort of ghostly), and you've got a rather special mixture.
Sadness Is A Blessing (Gold Panda Remix) - Lykke Li Gold Panda + Lykke Li is more than unexpected. It's not upbeat, like the rest of those Lykke Li remixes you've got. Shit's dreamlike, creating an ambience of ethereal drowsiness you can only peacefully succumb too. The title says it all.
Jai Paul - BTSTUThis track celebrates the reappearance of Jai Paul. Completely unique. Beautiful harmony contrasted with a throbbing bass that can only compare to the sounds of the gods gettin' at it. Sick vocals too, sonnn.
Stay Away (Salem Remix) - Charli XCX Best ((drown wave)) ever. It was definitely my personal favorite song for a while, regardless of the fact that we don't cover this type of lo-fi shit as much as we will in the future. Salem for the win. Plus, the video is a kult classic in my brain.
Roommates (Remix) - Now, Now If you hear how lame the original is (it doesn't pale in comparison, it gets softly killed) you'll understand my obsession with this track. Indie rock from Minnesota? Who knew they produced good shit in the middle of nowhere? Sexy female vocals and even sexier beats.
Summon The Sound (Christian AIDS Remix) - S.C.U.M. Blast this in a dark room with good friends and styrofoam cups filled to the brim. Not for those who want to party, but for those who want to take a trip for the 4th dimension. Stay Positive and Paperweight (vs Murkage), also by Christian Aids-- now known as Stay+ -- are equally good.
Red Alert (feat. Ratatat) - CSSShit. What a rad collaboration. Starts off with a Ratatat piano riff infused with sexy female vocals from our favorite Brazilian rock band, CSS, and escalades from there.
Got To Give It Up (Kill Them With Colour Remix - Marvin Gaye Yeah, I know. You're fuckin' stoked. Can you say doo-wop electro? Yesssum, and you very well should. And if you don't already know Kill Them With Colour from their KiD CuDi "Symphonies" remix, here's a taste of the classics: Colours (Original). KTWC-- yet another Canadian gem.
The Golden Age (Justice Remix) - The Asteroids Galaxy Tour Basically, Justice took the Danish pop band's shit and added in their signature funky guitar while retaining Mette Lindberg's craycray vocals. And she's probably prettyhot (<<< aka click that duhhh).
Comin to get us (Designer Drugs Remix) - The Death SetThis is basically what I crush shit to. I have this playing in the background. And the foreground. And the sky. The Death Set? They're an Art Punk group from Australia. These crazy punk female vocals we'll get you going, alright. Hits Me Like A Rock (Dillon Francis Remix) - CSSThis is dope as dope can get. From moombahton to luvstep and everything in between, Dillon and CSS consistently nail it. Hell, that's Mad Decent for ya.
Ice Cream Truck - MartyParty This is extra funny if you've seen the latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but that's beside the point. Starts off with the source of the trauma, then becomes the trauma, then traumatizes you.
Shave It (501 Remix) - ZeddShake it up (up up up up up up up up!). Yeah this is pretty much all over the place and delicious, like your sex.
I Know The Truth (Bonnaroo 2011) - Pretty Lights I can't explain why this is so sexual to me. Pretty Lights dropped it at Bonnaroo, as you can see from the title because you're not stupid. If you were, you'd be on some other website.
Levels (Skrillex Remix) - Avicii Skrillex's insane, filthy bootleg. It's everything we love about house, and everything we love about dubstep, morphed into one piece of ass.
Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker - Dada LifePicture a molten metal lion roaring at the top of a mountain, and that lion has giant red boots, and they kick you in the face every time you yawn. If you find the little human chants from the video annoying, download this versiontoo.
It's been a great year with you guys. Much love,
your favorite psychopaths, the SFP™crew.
