Canon (Pyramid Remix) - Justice A chill take on the original from a young French producer. Shit, I could blaze or sleep to this. No canonical shit round here.
Nikels and Dimes - Gonjasufi The humble version of stacks on stacks on stacks? Probably. Shit's lo-fi broken-speakerish as fuck. Psychedellickit.
Don't Break My Love - Nicolas Jaar All over the place, incohesive, just like your brain or any good rhapsody. This is probably genius and if you don't get it it's 'cus you're not.
El Diablo - Applescal A free EP from a rad Dutch producer. Dope ass male and female vocals. If the devil is a sexy black man who seduces women and condemns them to an eternity in a killer love shack, then this title is totally appropriate.
Shave It (501 Remix) - Zedd Shake it up (up up up up up up up up!). Yeah this is pretty much all over the place and delicious, like your sex.
Could This Be - Noisia Fuck yes, it's Noisia, the winners of Beatport's Drum & Bass artist of the year awards in '09 and '10. With this track, the trio rose to the top of Beatport's charts. Crazy tempo and synth surprises to work your ear clit with.
Cassettes - InkShips The first time I heard this jumped into a pile of powdered snow and thought to myself, "das wunderbar!" It's bubbly ambient pop laced laced with high pitched vocals to complement! WOO!
Good Love (Stay+ Remix) - Miracle A heavy and dark synthpop remix by one of my favorite bands, Stay+, who nobody's ever fucking heard of and about whom it's impossible to find any info on. So I'll just imagine they're from Antarctica and they just drop acid and dance around aurora borealis and host orgies.
Parentheses (PVT Remix) - The Antlers Brooklyn-based and indie swaggin' bawsses the Anlters have released this and are hitting us with their new EP soon, of which this is the opening track.
California Birds (ABADABAD Cover) - Keep Shelly in Athens Perfectly fucking ethereal. Basically the soundtrack of the axis mundi. Also, the music video (click) is awesome because it features an adorable little girl running around in a graveyard. Yethhhhir.
I Just Saw (Raleigh Moncrief Cover) - Baths A nice cover of a California-based "avant-popster." Raleigh Moncrief is also "California-based avant-popster." Wonderfully redundant and meta-something?! Yeah.
Ghosts n Stuff (Apathy Dubstep Remix) - Deadmau5 Some dubby wub wub to make your brain wobble. If you can't hear this beat rattling around your head, well then... something's not right here. Dubstep killed the mau5? Oh yeah. And it's coming for you.
Get the Money - PANTyRAiD Music producers Marty Party and Ooah teams up to bring you PANTyRAiD, a West Coast collabo which transcends the labels of hip-hop, dirty bass and dubstep to experiment with the modern electronic dance scene. This one starts off chill and melodic, then takes off right into the fuckin stratosphere. Get ready for a wild ride, bitches. (Oh and if you wanna hear more from them, click this shit. It's not like you can resist a duo that refers to their music as "Audio Fondling Your Girlfriend.")
Just A Freak (FTampa Remix) - Electrixx Watch out, fuckers... Electrixx is bout to take over. The boys bring the beat with this track, which combines some seriously filthy dub with that nitty gritty progressive/electro sound we all love. Oh, and they're not too bad on the eyes either. Check em out HERE.
Sex and Candy (Papa Skunk Dub Remix) - Marcy Playground Without a doubt one of the best remixes of any Nirvana song I've ever heard. Eerily beautiful pianissimo notes blend with Mr. Cobain's haunting voice, keeping pace with a grungy dub rhythm that takes this song to the next fucking level.
New Vibe - Jaytech Can't really explain why this song makes me feel so happy. It must be that new vibe. ;)
Kites (Dada Life Remix) - Gravitonas Dada Life switches it up with this rhapsodic mix; compared to their usually out-of-control hard electro sound, this one's downright relaxing. Can't deny the drops make you want to lose your mind, but I'm lovin the soft vocals and overall mellow feel.
You've Got the Love (Revolvr Remix) - Florence + the Machine Okay, so I'm slightly (maybe more than slightly) obsessed with Florence and the Machine. So what? Her voice is absolutely spectacular. Infuse that soul with Revolvr's mindblowing beats, and you've got yourself some gooood shit. Need I say more?
Smoke and Mirrors (True Tiger Remix) - Paloma Faith I've always been a sucker for pretty girl vocals set on dubstep tracks, and this is no exception to the rule. British singer/songwriter Paloma Faith's gorgeous voice stands out against True Tiger's filthy back beat, creating a delectably dirty eargasm for your listening pleasure.
Sleeping Pills - Shipstad & Warren Pop one and let the sweeping waves of euphoria wash over you. Oh so dreamy and beautiful, just beautiful.
Right Beside You (Etherwood Bootleg) - Jakwob Too fucking cute. Really, this is just the sweetest shit of your life. Thank you, Jakwob.
And I'll leave you with some fucking FILTHY new shit from Zedd... Couldn't resist. Zedd - Scorpion Move by Zedd
Tornado (Original Mix) - Tiesto & Steve Aoki Just one of the two originals getting it on. It's kinda beautiful at the beginning... but then you remember it's a tornado. Ask and you shall receive, seek & you shall destroy.
Hijo De Puta - Arehouse A little moombahton to get you going. "If you want to call somebody a son of a bitch, in Spanish you would say 'hijo de puta.'" You're welcome for the lesson. That'll be $20 on your way out.
Aural Psynapse (Myndset Remix) - Deadmau5 So yeah, I guess this track is sort of a junction between two nerve cells, consisting of a minute gap across which impulses pass by diffusion of a neurotransmitter. But your brain cells are laced with xtc, so you don't even understand anything I'm saying.
VCR (The xx Cover) - The Antlers This shit cray. While the xx announced six days ago that they've started working on their second album, I give you this to help with the wait.
Kimmi in a Rice Field (Glitter Bones Remix) - Twin Sister Glitter Bones? An unsigned duo from Chicago who describes their genre as fantasy and "the swinging sound of hoop earrings." Sounds accurate to me. Check it out for yo'self.
Keep Me There - Nicolas Jaar From our favorite American-Chilean musician. Did you know: he's currently studying comparative literature at Brown University. My guess is he blazes all day, makes music, and then pretends to read books when in actuality, he's ripping out the pages to use as rolling paper.
Time For Us - Nicolas Jaar This one has less of a tango sound to it and more of an indie bullshit sound. The male vocals are as hypnotic as it gets. Did we mention Jaar is the founder of his own record label? Yeah, that's Clown and Sunset, bitch.
Balance - Future Islands Pop from Baltimore, MD created by artists who claim to draw their influence from cloudy days and love.
Everything To Me (Adventure Club Dubstep Remix) - LIPS This is just fucking sexy as fucking hell. "It would mean everything to me if we could take a holiday, 'cus you and I both tired every night isn't my idea of play."
Unruly - Dirty Talk and Boy Kid ft.Messinian This is a crazy sick dub song that I like to jam to with pretty hard rap vocals. "Ask if he can pull me from the clutches of Hades for acting so Unruly." Don't we all suffer the same dilemma?
Factory VIP - Downlink Straight up bass and wobble. Heard this guy on one of Datsik's Sets with a surprise appearance of Downlink! This is more like a more fast paced "Bass Cannon."
Eviction- Ill Gates & Datsik Nonsensical crazy random lyrics about playing music too loud and et cetera. pretty crazy wobble though listen to this loud enough and you may turn into a robot...
Let Go With You - Josh Money Addicting awesome male vocals, can be pretty sexy...no homo. All topped off with that crazy Bass! actually sounds a bit like something Feed Me would make. Love this track, and hope you fuckers will 2!
Internet Friends - Knife Party If SFP™ had a voice, that crazy ass cunt would sound just like this! If you don't already have this viral banger, then get your fucking hands on it right now from right here cuz when i heard Porter Robinson drop this is Baltimore....I lost my face for 10 minutes.
Super Funk - Nostalgia A funky disco sound accompanied by a hard hitting baseline to start you off, drag you in, and never let you go. That's right. I own your soul.
Breakn' a Sweat - Skrillex (feat. The Doors) Skrillex pushin' the envelope with this interesting collab. Reminds me of the Pretty Lights vs. Led Zeppelin track we posted a while back. Si se puede means yes I can. Download HERE.
Big Bad Wolf (Dada Life Remix) - Duck Sauce Any remix of Big Bad Wolf makes me wanna cream myself and fly to the moon and die there. This one's a little more acid-rave than most. You're welcome.
Strobe (Special Features Remix) - Deadmau5 A new remix of a Deadmau5 track you've come to love. Stars off adorably so you might as well love everyone around you to this.
Move the Stars - Blood Diamonds A dreamy new track by Vancouver producer Blood Diamonds, realeased on BD's latest album, Transparent. The vocals are as cute as it gets.
Hornet's Nest - Jonti Might be a little too hyper but if you're chroming it's good. From Jonti's newest album, Twirligig. He's Australian, he's young, and he's worked with Santigold and Mark Ronson. Download it HERE.
Romantic Streams (Damu Remix) - Sleep Over I'm pretty sure this song marksSFP™ bringing you every existent remix of "Romantic Streams." And now, a beat-heavy refix by Manchester producer Damu.
American Daydream - Electric Guest A chorus-driven delicacy crafted by a Los Angeles duo signed to Downtown Records. They rocked CMJ in New York City last month, so there's that.
Take me back.Take me back to Halloween, to the crazy fucking weekend that just passed, to raging my face off at Deadmau5 in San Francisco . . . because I seem to be having some difficulty readjusting to real life -- and I know most of you fuckers are probably feeling the same way. So you know what? Get ready to get down with some filthy beats, and then I'll take you back with me. Back in time to Saturday night to relive all the madness. Here we go.
I Need To Feel Dangerously Alive (Kane Michael's Mega Smashup) - Dirty South & Thomas Gold vs James Blunt vs Loops of Fury Posted this massive smashup on our Facebook page last week; so no worries if you missed it. I mean, it's not like it's kinda fucking epic or anything.
We Found Love (Chuckie Remix) - Rihanna feat Calvin Harris Rihanna's girly, pop-infused sound combines with Calvin Harris' euphoric beat to create an instant hit, while Chuckie's remix dominates the track to drop an eargasm far more satisfying than the original. Yuuup, you pretty much can't help but smile when you hear it.
Happy Violence (Kaskade Remix) - Dada Life Not only were we here at SleepFuckParty™ already obsessed with this banger (and the several versions of it previously released), but Kaskade just takes it to the next level . . . as always. Enjoy the fuck out of this.
Dark Side Of The Tomahawk (Myon & Shane 54 Mashup) - BT & Adam K. vs Ernesto vs Bastian Yeah, in case you couldn't tell -- I'm kinda sorta addicted to mashups. Not a lot tho, just a lil bit. (Oh who am I kidding here . . . I fucking love them.) This one starts off slow, then picks up just in time to blow your mind. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Helena Beat (Lenno Remix) - Foster the People More funky beats and feel good vibes coming your way from Foster the People.
City Kids - Mustard Pimp feat Dirtyphonics It's a difficult task to describe Mustard Pimp's sound in one genre; their music, along with the addition of Dirtyphonics, is a distinct and refreshing mix of hard electro, dubstep and house. "Society has rules, you know," the song goes. "Ha! We don't wag our tails for anyone." Bring on the filth and bass, baby.
Beautician 2.0 - Dillon Francis Beautiful remake of an already amazing song. By slowing it down and chilling it out, Dillon Francis amplifies the beat and delivers Beautician 2.0. Let me just say that you're killin it, Dillon. Killin it.
Trust Issues (OVOXO Remix) - Drake x The Weeknd Ch-ch-check out Drake's new shit -- OVOXO is his Canadian-based collabo with the Weeknd. OVO stands for Drake's part in the group, "October's Very Own", while the XO is the Weeknd's counterpart; an X for a kiss, O for a hug. Pretty fucking dope.
And finally, I went to see AC Slater in SF last Wednesday; he rocked EPR hard (Electro Pop Rocks, a popular electronic event that takes place weekly in the city). "I don't waste time with the bassline" -- well, you heard him! And you know I love bass. o_O
Ready for a trip down the rabbit hole with me? As we travel back in time to Saturday evening, to a night of pounding bass, flashing lights and trippy beats. Picture Deadmau5, A-Trak, Feed Me, and Fatboy Slim tearing it UP in the city of San Francisco. Now let me tell you all about it.
The night got off to an early start: the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium opened its doors around 5:15 to a crowd of excited ravers and partygoers all decked out in Halloween costumes and sparkly, fluorescent colors. Girls in cat ears and butterfly wings, glitter all over their faces; boys in bright neon shirts and (my personal favorite) guys walking around in mau5 heads, everyone pumped and ready for the epic and crazy night ahead of them.
By the time I got in at about 7:30, Feed Me was already playing. Past the main entrance out onto the dance floor overlooking a surprisingly small stage, the energy of the crowd just wasn't at its maximum potential; as much as I love me some Feed Me, it was still just too early to really get in the zone.
Though I can appreciate his dubby sound and filthy drops, it wasn't until halfway through A-Trak's set that the dance floor started to come to life. He dropped classic after classic -- like Daft Punk's Robot Rock and Barbara Streisand, just to get everyone going -- and when Heads Will Roll came on, the crowd went all-out nuts. Not to mention his remix of The Rapture's How Deep Is Your Love, another crowd pleaser.
Fatboy Slim opening with Praise You
When Fatboy Slim came on, though, the whole vibe of the event completely changed. They had re-done the stage after Feed Me and A-Trak were done playing (which wasn't really fair to them in my opinion, but it is what it is). Just his opening itself blew me away. Suddenly the world became a hallucinogenic mess of color and light, playing in a swirling haze in the air; spooky images flickered on the screen as the song repeated, "What the Fuck." and the crowd sang along. That's all I could think -- "What the fuck is going on!?"
After images and psychedelic sweeps of color flashed through the air, imprinting themselves in my vision, not unlike a kaleidoscope. One of my favorite songs from his set, Push the Tempo, just filled the whole place with euphoria and left me smiling nonstop. After climbing the stairs to the seats overlooking the stage, I couldn't help but marvel at the auditorium's setup; by the time we could hear the first striking chords of Deadmau5's Where My Keys, the entire stage had been transformed.
My absolute favorite moment was when Sofi came out to perform Sofi Needs a Ladder. The girl is just way too fucking badass. As a friend of mine commented, "She's just on top of the world right now!" True that bitches.
It's no wonder he's such a famous DJ;Deadmau5'sMeowingtons Hax Tourhas been a complete and total fucking success. His music is an eclectic mix of hauntingly sweet notes with dirty, dubby lil wobbles interspersed throughout the melodies. The results are songs that both pump you up and chill you out, whatever you're feelin at the time. Which means this: Every beat he dropped -- Some Chords, Maths, Raise Your Weapon (Noisia Remix), One Trick Pony (feat SOFI), and more -- was guaranteed to make the crowd go wild.
My only complaint was that the night ended way too early for me. The Mau5 stopped playing around 11:30, almost as if he were about to leave his fans begging for more. After hearing the crowd chant, "One more song! One more song!" He finally came back on to play until midnight. So many other DJ's of his fame and caliber go hard until at least 2 A.M. or later, so why such a fuss over playing until 12? My question to you, Mr. Mau5: Your fans can all hang. So why can't you?
Other than that, the night was absolutely unreal. Can't say I would mind jumping into a time machine and going back to do it all over again and again . . . and again.
